Hello, dear families! ¡Hola queridos familias!
Welcome to Spanish 8 class! ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español 8!
I am so excited for the wonderful journey we are going to have together this year. I truly love being in the classroom with my students, and I can't wait to learn and grow alongside them. Together, we are going to create our own immersive Hispanophone world through a great balance of hard work and fun!
To share a little about myself: I have over eight years of experience teaching French and Spanish in Michigan and Maryland. After taking time to stay at home and raise my own children, I have thoroughly enjoyed substituting across the elementary, middle, and high schools here on Bainbridge Island, and I have been teaching French at BHS. My teaching is aligned with National Board Standards and is shaped by my diverse studies in secondary and elementary education, school counseling, and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
As a proud Canadian-American, I am passionate about bringing the wider world into our classroom. I have had the incredible opportunity to live abroad in France, Peru, Ecuador, and the Czech Republic, and I love sharing those global perspectives with my students. I love doing a service/mission trip to Mexico in November, during which as a team and with my sons, we will build a home for a family and support them. I LOVE using my Spanish skills, curiosity and compassion during this time and will share about it with the students.
Outside of school, I have a lively household with my kids and some pets. I spend my free time cheering on my kids at their sporting events, camping, exploring, volunteering in our community, and always seeking out new things to learn. You never know what exciting opportunities lie ahead!
