PLEASE NOTE: All information below, including the season itself, is subject to change dependent on having the required number of committed coaches to provide a safe and positive environment for all. We currently only have 1 coach and we need 4 in total. If you would like to hear more information about becoming a coach, please contact Luke Ande, lande@bisd303.org and John Lunt, jlunt@bisd303.org. We will respond as quickly as possible.
Registration
Registration will be capped pending the coaching staff. This is required in order to provide a safe and positive environment for all. In the event there is not enough coaching staff coverage to safely and properly coach all events, field events (shot put, discus and javelin and possibly long jump and high jump) will not be offered. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
Parent Meeting (mandatory)
Tentative September 6 or 7 immediately following practice. Information and date to come.
Practices
Meets
For the Futurist and League Championship Meets: only those students/athletes who are registered for those meets will be allowed early release from school and permission to ride the bus for that meet. Students will attend only one of these meets.
We will announce who will be invited to compete in the League Championships as soon as I have official registration information from the League on the Championship meet. Most likely this will be Monday the 16th at practice.
Home Meets
- Home meets will be held at the Woodward track. Start times for all meets will be held as close to 3:30 as possible. Start times are different at each school due to different bell schedules and transportation issues. In general, track meets take about 3 hours to complete if everything goes well. About 30 volunteers are needed for each home meet to run events. We greatly appreciate your support!
- Additionally, a volunteer coordinator is needed.
- All participants need to stay to the end of the meet to cheer and help clean up
- Check in with a coach before leaving
Away Meets
- Bring food & water – no glass containers or nuts please
- Appropriate clothing – Sweatshirts and pants, running shoes. Rain gear OR sunscreen.
- Must ride the bus home with the team unless the coach has a note or parents are at the meet
- Check in with a coach before leaving
- Pick up from WMS will be in the back (bus) parking lot – promptness is appreciated. Coaches will have athletes call with an approximate time.
