I'm excited to be entering my 22nd year at Woodward Middle School (25th teaching overall)! As I tell my students, I wouldn't stick around this long if I didn't love it here! I have taught just about everything in my career, but have been focusing on my passion, science, for the past 21 years. We focus on the general sciences in 7th grade and follow the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). We will be using OpenSciEd this year for many of our units.

Along with teaching, I am also a basketball coach. I was the head boys coach at Bainbridge High School for 11 years and I was also one of the founders of ROOTS Basketball, the youth program on the island. I took over as the head coach at North Kitsap HS 8 years ago and had the honor to coach the program to it's first State Championship in school history in 2020...5 days before all schools were shut down because of COVID-19. I am also one of the Cross Country coaches here at Woodward.

Beyond the classroom and the court, I see myself as an outdoor enthusiast where I love to fish, fly fish, hike, backpack, boat, forage for plants/mushrooms, and hunt.

I'm looking forward to another outstanding year here at Woodward!
