Dear Wildcat Families & Students,
This Friday marks the end of our WMS PTO Big Give campaign. We want to share our heartfelt thanks to all of our families who have been able to participate. Your generosity spreads joy, celebration, and opportunity for our staff in so many ways as they work hard to create experiences for students to make their middle school years special. From fueling staff appreciation efforts, organizing special events like Fall-a-palooza (coming up on 10/23!), and offering special grants for professional tools and development, we feel the love all year long!
One incredibly impactful outcome from our WMS PTO is the support given to Advisors to be able to host before and after school clubs. We LOVE offering these extracurriculars to our students, and also hear such positive feedback from our students on the importance of these clubs in their lives, as well. Thank you!
The GIVE event is open through October 16th, if you would like to participate and haven’t had the opportunity. THANK YOU!!!
In Joy, Love, and Community,
Miranda Joy Smallwood

World Mental Health Day - October 10th
In recognition of World Mental Health Day, our counselors hosted a special table during both lunches on Thursday, October 8th. Students had the opportunity to stop by, participate in a fun activity, pick up some goodies, and connect with our counseling team!
Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word and encouraged students to participate! Together, we can continue to create a school community where everyone feels seen, heard, valued, and supported. Remember, mental health matters every day!

By October, the excitement of the new school year may be wearing off, activities are picking up, and schedules are getting busier. For 7th and 8th graders, this is a great time to strengthen the routines that help students get to school every day, on time, and ready to learn.
Middle school is an important time for students to take more ownership of their daily routines. Getting enough sleep, staying organized, and planning ahead can make mornings less stressful and help students be more successful at school.
Keep October running smoothly by:
- Maintaining consistent bedtime and wake-up times.
- Setting an alarm and taking responsibility for getting up on time.
- Packing backpacks, charging devices, and organizing materials the night before.
- Keeping track of assignments, activities, and schedules.
- Eating breakfast and providing enough time to arrive at school on time.
- Making daily attendance a priority—even on the mornings when staying home sounds easier!
Strong routines don't just improve attendance. They help students stay caught up academically, feel less overwhelmed, build independence, and stay connected to friends, teachers, and their school community.
Remember, every day at school is an opportunity to learn, connect, build confidence, and prepare for high school.

Hello Wildcat families,
We would like you to know about a band concert coming up. It will be on October 27th at 7:00 pm on the Woodward stage. The concert will have our 7th and 8th grade bands, and also our mixed grade Woodward jazz band. Students have been working hard for 6 weeks on our pieces. There will be medleys of iconic Halloween songs and even some nice swings. It is open to anyone who wants to come, we hope to see you there!

Stitch by stitch, culinary students put their newfound sewing skills to the test, creating one-of-a-kind aprons they’ll proudly wear throughout the rest of the semester!
|
From sewing stitches to sowing sunshine! Our culinary students traded their sewing machines for garden tools and got their hands dirty planting daffodil bulbs along the roadside. Their hard work is sure to bring a burst of color and a little extra sunshine when spring rolls around!
