From the Principal

Dear Woodward Families,

It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of another school year! What a fabulous 8th Grade Banquet! Thank you to everyone who helped create such a special event for our high school-bound students!
We have one more full week of school ahead, and it will be filled with learning, celebrations, and fun activities as we wrap up the year together. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

June 6–8: Drama Club performs High School Musical Jr. at the BHS Theatre
June 8–12: Spirit Week (Monday–Friday)
June 10–11: Incoming Sakai 7th Grade Tours
June 12: Afternoon Spirit Assembly and Yearbook Day
June 15: Field Day
June 16: Last Day of School! (Half Day - Dismissal at 12:00, no lunches served)

For our current 7th-grade families, please keep an eye on the Woodward website throughout the summer. It will include important information for next year, including Welcome Back Wildcats Day details, school supply information, summer reading suggestions, fall track and field opportunities, and much more.

Finally, thank you for another wonderful year. I have felt incredibly supported by the entire Woodward community—our PTO, families, staff, and students. While it is difficult to leave such a special school, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this community. I will carry many wonderful memories with me and look forward to seeing all the great things our students accomplish in the years ahead!

And as a final note, thank you again for sharing your amazing students with us! It has been a privilege to be part of their journey.

Have a wonderful summer!

Volunteers Needed!

Currently seeking enthusiastic and helpful volunteers for Field Day on June 15.

Band POPS Concert - TONIGHT!!!

Join us tonight for the Middle School Band's final concert of the year! Our talented musicians are closing out the season with a playlist packed full of pop culture favorites that are sure to have you humming along in your seat.

After a year of hard work, growth, and countless rehearsals, our students are ready to showcase their musical talents one last time. Bring your family, bring your friends, and come help us give these incredible musicians a standing ovation as they take their final bow of the school year. We can't wait to see you there!

Spring Musical - WMS Drama Club

Wildcats - It's time to get your head in the game!!

We're soaring, flying, and headed straight for opening night! The Woodward Drama Club will be performing High School Musical Jr. on June 5th and 6th at 7:30, and June 7th at 4:00 at the Bainbridge High School Auditorium.

There is no cost for tickets, but there is a suggested donation at the door or you can donate online to help support the drama program. We're all in this together, and we hope to see you there!!

Show Your Spirit Next Week!!

Spirit Week is here! Let's finish the school year with a little extra fun, creativity, and school spirit. We encourage everyone to join in, dress up, and celebrate the final days of school with festive outfits and plenty of Wildcat pride.

Don't forget to stop by the AV Club's Photo Booth to snap some pictures with friends.

Join the BISD Instructional Technology Advisory Council

BISD is forming a Instructional Technology Advisory Council to help guide thoughtful conversations and recommendations around the intentional use of technology in our classrooms and schools.

This committee will bring together staff, families, and community members to explore how technology can best support teaching, learning, student well-being, and balanced classroom experiences.

If you are interested in helping shape future conversations and decisions around educational technology in BISD, we encourage you to apply and be part of this important work.

Applications are due on Friday, June 5th.

End-of-Year Library Procedures

Time to turn in those library books, unless they're being used for a class.

Notices of missing books will be sent out on June 15. Please do not pay fines until those final notices are sent.

Finish Strong, Start Stronger!

As the school year winds down, it can be tempting to start summer early—but every school day in June still matters. These final weeks are an important time to complete assignments, prepare for finals and projects, celebrate achievements, and spend time with friends and teachers.

For 7th and 8th grade students, consistent attendance helps build the habits and responsibility needed for success in high school and beyond. Finishing the year strong can boost confidence, improve academic outcomes, and help students feel prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

By staying engaged through the last day of school, students can head into summer knowing they gave their best effort and return in September ready to learn, reconnect, and succeed.

Let's finish strong this June and start stronger next fall!

Time to Complete Your ABC's

WMS is at 37% Completion - Let's bring that up Wildcats!

Please help us plan for next year! If your student will not attend BISD in the fall, please contact WMS registrar Molly Webber at mwebber@bisd303.org.

All families must complete the ABC 26–27 process for each student, including returning and new students. To complete the process, log in to Family Access and select “ABC 26-27” from the left menu. The process takes about 15 minutes per child and helps BISD plan staffing, class sizes, and student services for next year.

A few helpful reminders:
  • Only Primary Families can complete the ABC process.
  • Be sure to click “Complete Step and Move to…” on each page.
  • The final step requires two clicks: “Complete ABC 26-27” and then “Submit ABC 26-27.”
  • You’ll receive an email confirmation once submitted.

Wildcats on the Run

The Woodward Cross Country teams closed out an incredible season at the West Sound League Championships, competing against 13 schools and bringing home major hardware! The Girls’ Varsity team raced to a league championship victory, led by top-10 finishers Lydia Luce (4th) and Payton Handy (8th). The Girls’ JV team also had an outstanding performance, taking 2nd overall with Abby Prouty winning the race, Lexi Turner placing 2nd, and Sydney Leech finishing 9th.

The Boys’ teams delivered huge performances as well, with Varsity placing 4th overall behind an impressive 2nd-place finish from John Henry Ory, while the Boys’ JV team earned 2nd overall led by Leif Whitmire’s 3rd-place finish. Congratulations to all of our runners on a spectacular season filled with hard work, determination, and Wildcat pride!

Student Grown, Deer Approved

Our Culinary Arts students have done an incredible job transforming the school garden into a thriving source of fresh produce. From tilling and fertilizing to planting and harvesting, students have worked hard all year while learning about sustainable food systems and the journey from garden to table.

Of course, they're not the only ones who have noticed the fruits (and vegetables!) of their labor. While students are away, the garden has become a favorite dining destination for some of our four-legged visitors. The local deer have been thoroughly enjoying the student-grown buffet and would like to extend their sincerest thanks for the fresh, organic menu. We can't say they helped with the weeding, but they certainly haven't missed a harvest opportunity!

Connection and Compassion in Action

As a school climate and culture building activity, Woodward Natural Helpers created this tree with the first names of all students on the leaves (7th graders on light green and 8th on dark) and staff names on the roots.

The students came up with the idea and came together as a team to implement it. We all enjoyed watching students enter the Commons and see the tree for the first time. Many enjoyed looking for their name.
