Dear Woodward Families,
Last week was National Teacher Appreciation Week, and here at Woodward we felt truly celebrated! Each day brought special treats, delicious food, beautiful decorations in the staff lounge, and even lovely flower arrangements for each of us! Every thoughtful detail was organized, prepared, and shared by our PTO and Woodward families.
We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and kindness. It means so much to our entire staff to feel your appreciation and support. While we are all in education because of our passion for working with middle school students, it is always a gift to be recognized both personally and collectively.
Thank you for valuing and appreciating our staff so well. We are grateful to partner with such a caring community.
And please — keep sending us your amazing students!
With Appreciation,
Jeannie Donoghue

It’s time to swap four wheels for two, feel the fresh air, and kick off your day with some serious energy. Whether you’re cruising with friends, racing the clock, or just enjoying the ride, this is your chance to start the morning strong.
Grab your helmet, hop on your bike, and join the movement because there’s no better way to arrive at school than powered by you. Let’s make this the best commute of the year!
May 15 - Bike to school and be greeted with morning snacks/treats and a chance to enter a raffle for prizes
Guidelines/ Reminders:
- We STRONGLY encourage students to ride with a parent, friend, neighbor, or group.
- Wear bright/ reflective clothing

8th Grade Banquet is just weeks away!
Tickets & Donations: HERE
** Only registered volunteers can be on campus during the Eighth Grade Banquet—and spots are limited.
WHAT SHOULD MY STUDENT WEAR?
The Banquet is not a formal dance, rather a dinner with entertainment and dancing among friends. The attire for the evening is festive and dressy, but not formal. The BISD dress code applies to the Banquet. Shoes must be worn at all times for safety, so we recommend students choose comfortable shoes (ie not heels over 2 inches), or bring a change of shoes to change into. Kids will have the chance to "check" items such as shoes and jackets when they arrive and throughout the evening.
2031 BANQUET CHAIR:
Do you know anyone interested in chairing the banquet next year and can take on planning this amazing event for the rising 8th graders? Please reach out to the WMS PTO President or this year's banquet chairs if you're interested! Ideally the 2031 Banquet team can step up in time to see this year's event and decide what they want to keep for next year.

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, many middle school students feel the end-of-year slump—tired, less motivated, and very ready for summer. This is a normal part of the school year, but daily attendance still matters. Being in class helps students stay connected to learning, keep up with assignments, and finish the year feeling proud of their effort.
A few ways families can help support strong attendance in May:
- Keep consistent sleep and wake-up routines
- Encourage students to pack up and plan for the next day the night before
- Help students set short-term goals (e.g., “Let’s focus on getting through this week”)
- Check in about what they’re looking forward to at school and what feels challenging
- Recognize effort—showing up counts, even on tough mornings
Thank you for partnering with us to support students in pushing through the final stretch and finishing the school year strong.

To participate in BHS Summer Sports, athletes/parents must register in Final Forms and have a current physical on file.
When registering in Final Forms, click the large blue button at the top of the screen labeled “Click to Switch to 2026–27 Registration” to sign up for summer sports. At that time, you can also register your student for specific sports by selecting the box for each season and sport they plan to participate in.
If your summer sport requires a fee, your coach will provide that information.
Programs planning to hold summer practices and/ or Open Gyms/ Fields are listed below. Please contact the appropriate coach with any questions about locations and times.

Please help us plan for next year!
If you know your student will not attend BISD in the fall, please let us know by contacting the WMS registrar Molly Webber, mwebber@bisd303.org.
To complete this:
- Log in to your Family Access account. Look in the left menu and choose: ABC 26-27 to move through the steps to complete this process ASAP.
- It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete the process for each child in your household.
- This data collection allows BISD to gather information regarding your students’ plans for the upcoming year. Having an accurate understanding of the number of expected students helps us determine staffing needs, class size and building capacity to better serve our students. In addition to this valuable information, it allows BISD to fulfill its annual notification requirements for public schools in Washington state.
The ABC 26-27 process must be completed for ALL students in the district whether they are brand new to the district or returning. If your student will be enrolled in Running Start, the process must be completed for them as well.
*NOTE: For students with more than one family, ONLY the Primary Family will have access to complete the ABC’s. Guardians of Non-Primary Families will have “read-only” access. If this is a hardship for your family, please contact the school office for guidance, or send an email to studentrecords@bisd303.org. All families have the ability to make changes to their specific demographic information at any time via Family Access>Student Info>Change Requests link (in the top right corner).
TIPS:
- Use a desktop or laptop computer (if trying to use a mobile device, open up a browser and login to Family Access directly. Or, depending on your device you may be able to choose the “Desktop” version of the mobile app for this purpose).
- Use the “View Full Screen” buttons when available.
- Each step has a “Complete Step and Move to….” button. You must click that on each step to mark it as complete.
-
Optional steps: PTSO and Bainbridge Schools Foundation steps are there as informational only. Donations are appreciated, but NOT required!
- IF you make a change request that needs to be approved by the district you can still Complete the Step and move on to the next step.
- If you think you have completed the process, but it is not showing as complete, look in the right column menu and look for the step(s) that do not have a check mark next to them. Click the link and you’ll either need to sign and date and/or merely click the “complete step” button….then Submit.
-
The LAST step – takes 2 clicks. “Complete ABC 26-27” followed by “Submit ABC 26-27”. As soon as you “Submit” you will get a notice and email that the process has been completed.

This collection showcases a selection of student-chosen photographs from this semester’s Photography class, highlighting the pieces they felt most proud of and connected to. Through creative use of scale and perspective, focus, composition, and drawing techniques layered onto photographs, these works reflect both artistic growth and individual expression. Each image captures a unique way students explored the world through the lens of design and storytelling.

The court was packed, the crowd was loud, and the competition was fierce during our lunchtime 1v1 Basketball Tournament, organized by Mr. Orness. Students brought the energy for weeks with ankle-breakers, clutch shots, and nonstop hustle, but in the end, Jack Covey battled his way through the bracket to claim the championship title.
Adding to the excitement, special guests and current collegiate basketball standouts, Cade Orness and Jonas La Tour, stopped by to cheer on the players, shoot some hoops, and surprise the tournament winner with a signed pair of shoes. What a way to cap off an unforgettable showdown!
