Dear Woodward Families,
The cold winter weather has arrived, but the good news is that March is right around the corner which means spring is coming! Woodward started off the second semester with the first ever staff “Untalent Show” for our students. We announced to students that we would be holding a serious assembly on school values and then surprised them with the show! It was so fun to see our staff perform silly, and a few serious acts. Ms. Warman and Mr. Orness hosted the show with singing, dancing and jokes. It was truly a joyful event for everyone! More details and photos follow in this newsletter.
March brings 7th & 8th grade career exploration, incoming 7th grade parent night at WMS on the 11th at 6:30, and a visit from BHS counselors to 8th grade classes regarding high school registration on the 4th.
Thank you for sending us your amazing students!

High School and Beyond Plan Presentation
On Monday, March 3rd in your student’s social studies class, Lia Swanson, BISD Career Guidance Specialist, will be sharing the High School Beyond Plan in preparation for high school registration. The High School & Beyond Plan is an exploration and planning process that revolves around three guiding questions: 1) Who am I? 2) What can I become? 3) How do I become that? This presentation is part of the WMS counseling department’s career education focus at Woodward Middle School and is a continuation of the career seminar lessons that took place on Feb 10th and 24th during Monday’s Seminar time.
High School Counselors at WMS
Bainbridge High School counselors will be coming to Woodward on March 4th to talk to 8th graders and provide registration information. BHS online registration will open on Tuesday, March 4th and closes on Monday, March 10th at 9am.
Eagle Harbor High School will also be coming to Woodward on March 4th during 8th grade Language Arts classes to talk to share information about EHHS and answer questions.

On Wednesday, March 5th, 7th grade students will participate in the half-day event called EXPLORE. Explore focuses on exposing students to future careers while also bringing a bit of real-world simulation to budgeting. After completing a career exploration activity in their seminar class, students will utilize their top career interests to complete a reality simulation to make a month’s salary last as they pay for the various expenses in life. Also, students will rotate through career exposure sessions including STEM Like Me (STEM professionals from all different industries share their experience and a hands-on activity), Western Washington Cyber Range (share exciting opportunities within the world of cyber security), Kitsap Builders Association (hands-on activities highlighting career in the trades), and a variety of careers within the Food Industry.

On Wednesday, March 5th, 8th grade students will participate in our annual INSPIRE event. This day started over 15 years ago with the intent of giving students a chance to hear adults speak about their experiences, their careers and their passions. The vision of this day is to motivate and inspire our students to think about their own potential and how they could construct meaningful, fun, and interesting paths in their lives. Each year, we strive to bring in a variety of speakers to offer students the opportunity to listen to and learn from people in our community.
