Mrs. Donoghue

From the Principal

Dear Woodward Families,
Help fill the Woodward Library shelves!

Bainbridge Schools Foundation is raising funds to refresh library collections at all seven schools. Many shelves need new, engaging books that reflect student interests, celebrate diverse voices, and support a wide range of reading levels.

Families can choose to support WMS directly or select “Fill Every Shelf” to make a greatest-need gift. Every contribution helps bring new books into our libraries and into the hands of students.

Here’s what your gift can do:
• $10 adds a new book
• $50 builds a small stack
• $100 creates a book bundle
• $250 fills a library shelf

Thank you for all of your contributions and continual support of our Woodward students!

Jeannie Donoghue

YEARBOOKS - Last Week to Purchase!

Your student will not want to miss out on this incredible keepsake from their year at Woodward, as well as taking part in the end of year tradition of getting these books signed by friends and teachers.

Yearbook pre-orders end 12/19!

If you're not sure if you've already purchased one for your student, please email Kristin Gellert in the front office at kgellert@bisd303.org to double check.

Spirit Week Next Week!

BISD is doing a district-wide Spirit Week to celebrate the end of 2025 and take us into the Winter Break with fun and festive energy.

Our Leadership Team took a special Wildcat spin on a few of the days. We are excited to see our student body join in the fun!

Emergency Preparedness - Volunteers Needed

We have received a request from the district emergency preparedness volunteer group for a few helping hands to finalize the compiling and distribution of emergency preparedness kits to BISD classrooms. We’re looking for 1–2 volunteers from Woodward to assist with sorting and dividing supplies on:

Date: Saturday, December 13
Time: 10:00 AM – around 12:00 PM
Location: Commodore Loading Dock (“The Pit” parking lot between the school and the board meeting room)

Volunteers will help organize the emergency kit materials for each school. It’s a simple but meaningful way to support student and staff safety.

If you’re able to help, please email woodward.president@bainbridgeptos.org  by December 12 so we can share volunteer names with the district organizers. Not sure about your volunteer status? Email the front office: kgellert@bisd303.org

Want to become a volunteer, or need to renew? Complete the BISD Volunteer Application process.

Hot Cocoa and Cool Jazz - Dec 19

Students will have a before school treat to wrap up 2025! Cocoa, apple cider, and the smooth serenade of our very own jazz band.

Students are encouraged to bring their own mug to help keep waste to a minimum.

Winter Break Pantry Bags

Helpline House, in partnership with Rotary, is providing extra food during school breaks for any youth ages 0-18 who are in need of additional nutrition. These can be picked up at Helpline House Monday-Friday 10am-4pm during the school break.

Water Color

"In Art, students continued their watercolor experience by creating a completed aerial landscape. The range of complexity depended on each individual artist. The base requirement was to do a wash for the background and gradient mountains. The skills needed were total control of the suspended pigment in the applied paint and drying time." - Mrs. Dutton

The Woodward Beat

Step inside the Woodward Beat to hear directly from our students! In this section, students share their unique perspectives, stories, and reflections on what it means to learn, grow, and connect at Woodward.

Student Newspaper

You might have heard about a Woodward student newspaper, but do you know what it really is? The Student Newspaper is a newspaper that the students of Woodward write, and its first edition came out in late November. It featured multiple articles; one about a band concert, one about fun facts, and the other about the new ball checkout system. There were also the articles by Woodward weekly writers (which are Woodward students that send in an article to be featured in the newspaper)– the first edition had an article titled The Effect of Clash Royale Season 77 and another article about Lamine Yamal’s setback. There was also a student survey and an interview with a new teacher at Woodward this year, Ms. Ellison. The Student Newspaper is coming out with its second edition very soon (with many winter-themed articles), so be sure to check it out! — Ananya Vivek, 8th Grade
