Dear Woodward Families,
Thank you for your incredible support and generous donations to our Woodward PTO Fallapalooza Fundraiser! While we fell just short of our fundraising goal, we are still thrilled by the amazing outpouring of support for our Woodward students and staff. Together, we’ve made a meaningful impact—and we’re so grateful!
If you missed the deadline and would still like to contribute, it's not too late! You can donate HERE.
To celebrate, the Woodward PTO is hosting our annual Fallapalooza Party for all WMS students on Friday, October 24th, from 3:30–5:00 PM. A huge thank you to our dedicated PTO officers Stephanie Chamberlain Pirtle and Lara Deits for making both the fundraiser and this fun event possible!
As we wrap up the fall sports season, we’re celebrating some big wins! Congratulations to our first-ever girls softball team, who finished their season with an outstanding 9–1 record! Our track team—with over 150 student participants—also had a fantastic season. At the League Championship Meet, the girls placed 2nd and the boys placed 3rd—a huge accomplishment!
It’s truly inspiring to see so many of our students engaging in after-school activities, and we’re deeply thankful to our incredible coaching staff for their time, passion, and unwavering support of our kids. We are lucky to have them in our community!
Thank you again for sharing your wonderful students with us. We love having them at Woodward!
Warmly,
Jeannie Donoghue
WMS Principal

The Woodward PTO Fundraiser concluded last Friday, and has fallen short by almost $6,000. Before making cuts to the budget, we would like to extend the fundraiser until the end of this week. Here is how you can help us reach our goal of $60,000:
SHARE: Share the donation link below with family and friends who may want to support your student's academic journey! Small donations add up to a big impact.
MATCH: Does your company offer corporate matching? It's a great way to double (or even triple!) the impact of your donation! Please remember to request those matches and send an email to woodward.fallapalooza@bainbridgeptos.org so we can anticipate your match. All Bainbridge island PTOs share a tax ID (91-0977467) so we want to make sure your match arrives at its intended destination.
DONATE: Did you intend to donate but time slipped away? There is still time! Please donate today! We will keep the online giving portal open until Friday, October 24th.
A note for online giving: Give Lively is a free donation platform for nonprofits thanks to optional tips. However, the tips do not go to Woodward, and you can change or remove the tip completely before completing your transaction.
A huge thank you to the many families who have donated already! Together, we will get there!

We’d like to send our heartfelt appreciation and warmest farewell to our wonderful school nurse, Theresa, as she returns to practicing medicine in the hospital setting. Her expertise, compassion, and steady care have made such a positive impact on our students and staff, and she will be deeply missed.
As we prepare to say goodbye, we’re also filled with excitement to welcome Nurses Maribel and Rose, who will be job sharing in the health room. They bring great experience and enthusiasm, and we know our students will be in excellent hands as they continue to receive the care and support that make our school community so special.
Best wishes to Theresa — you’ll always be part of the Wildcat family!
Welcome, Rose and Maribel — we’re thrilled to have you join our team!

This levy helps bridge the gap between what the state funds and what it actually costs to provide the education our community values—supporting strong academics, creative opportunities, and the well-being of every student.
Proposed rate: $0.08 per $1,000 of assessed value in 2026, $0.11 in 2027, and $0.13 in 2028. Even with this addition, overall school taxes will decrease as older bond taxes expire.

Your input matters! BISD is planning for the future, and we invite families to share their perspectives in our short Community Survey. The feedback we gather will help guide district priorities and goals for the next five years.
Survey closes Friday, October 31 at 5 p.m.

As we wrap up an amazing Fall sports season we'd like to congratulate our Softball and Track & Field athletes for an incredible effort! We’re so proud of how our students represent Woodward with integrity, communication, and compassion both on and off the field.
|
Our softball team knocked it out of the park this season, finishing with an impressive 9-1 record! In our very first year offering softball — made possible by a generous community donation — these athletes truly shined. We’re so proud of how they dug in, grew together, and played with heart every game.

Our Track and Field team wrapped up an incredible season with the girls placing 2nd out of 13 teams and the boys earning a strong 3rd place finish! The Championship Meet had many individual event victories for the Wildcats as well as a thrilling end to the girls' 4x100 relay, which the Wildcats won in a photo finish! What an amazing way to close out the season!

Tryouts tip off November 3, and all students must have their registration and medical eligibility paperwork completed in Final Forms before the first day of tryouts to participate.

Our track distance runners made their way to Pia the Peacekeeper on a recent training run.

Students in sculpture class took their creativity to the next level as they designed and crafted their own functional mugs. Each piece reflects individual style, technique, and imagination — perfect for their next cozy cup.
|
Mr. Orness’ class rose to new heights with an exciting hands-on challenge — designing safe landing pads to protect raw eggs from breaking on impact. Students explored the physics of kinetic energy and cushioning while testing their creative problem-solving skills. Their only materials? Just 10 sheets of paper and one meter of tape!
|
Lunch is a great time to gather, connect, and maybe even play some Ping Pong with friends. We are so thankful to our ASB for keeping our recess supplies stocked and in working order. The ASB membership dues help to replenish ping pong balls and paddles when they're ready to retire, soccer balls who have met one too many blackberry bushes, and basketballs that may need some TLC, among many other items that are used by our students.
|
PE wrapped up their Pickleball unit and these teams had smashing success on the court! With aces, dinks, and flawless volleys, these champions showed incredible teamwork and strategy. We love to see students working together and showing up with the Woodward values, even when competition gets fierce.

Part of what makes Woodward great is the variety of clubs students can join to cater to their diverse interests. There are clubs like the Math team, the Knowledge Bowl, and the Chess and Game Club, to the Drama club, and the Culinary club. These clubs are really fun because you meet new people with different interests, but you all share one thing in common. — Lochlyn, 7th Grade

OurGems and Zach’s Group are two mentorship groups for eighth-grade girls and boys. OurGems (the group for eighth-grade girls) focuses on setting healthy boundaries, empowering girls, promoting self-care, and taking education seriously. Personally, I really enjoyed OurGems. Zach’s Group (the group for eighth-grade boys) also focuses on mental health, and they talk about getting help when necessary, and social media. — Ananya, 8th Grade

Track and Field is almost over, and the scene has been so fun. The coaches are very supportive and kind to everyone. The running part is extremely exhilarating, and the field part is fun and makes me laugh sometimes. The Championships were really fun and our team came together and supported each other. — Abi, 8th Grade

Choir is a zero-period class held before school, where students sing their hearts out and learn how to improve their voices. It takes place from 8:00 to 8:45 on Wednesdays and Fridays at Woodward. The instructor, Ms. Gibbs, has had many years of experience teaching choir for both Sakai and Woodward, and exhibits a very inviting presence. — Evelyn, 8th Grade
